Unveiling a Unique Steam Game Trial: Controlling a Piece of Feces in a Mission to Arrive at the Toilet

Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have discovered a variety of entertaining indie games. Yet, one stands out for its unconventional concept. Titled Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer features a protagonist that is truly a dung attempting to make its way to a toilet. In case you're wondering, "Unko" translates to "poop."

Player controls is easy to grasp: just use a one button to leap. Across numerous stages, you'll face mini-bosses and access a store to acquire customizations for your dung hero.

Execute your jumps with caution, since one mistake means restarting the level. Bounce off air pockets to propel the poop higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and interact with triggers to reveal secret routes. Collect coins and use them on more difficult levels as things ramps up.

In terms of design, the demo shows off eye-catching level designs and catchy music score. The retro graphics of moving basic polygons may remind players of beloved games like Earthbound.

Even though difficult to name similar titles where you control a piece of feces, gaming have long incorporated toilet humor. For instance, in Death Stranding, players make throwables from character waste. Games like Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved employ manure as soil enrichment. Unsurprisingly, this theme is present a lot in Obsidian's South Park RPG The Stick of Truth.

Despite its silly idea, Unko Technica has already garnered impressive accolades, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. A playable preview is accessible currently on Steam, with the final release scheduled to arrive on Steam in the fall.
