Two Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the temporary shutdown of the CTA tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two more people are now in custody in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport where over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in Lambeth for suspected robbery and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiring to commit a robbery. Both individuals remain in custody, authorities confirmed.

These detentions come after a probe into an attack at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Before the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was one of the injured during the incident. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and were later discharged.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man on suspicion of robbery and assault near the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries as the investigation proceeds.

Police were called at about 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding a number of people hurt by an irritating chemical believed to be an irritant spray.

The attack - which police said was isolated and not being treated as an act of terror - resulted in train delays and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking facility for a short time.
