The developers behind a cryptocurrency launched by First Lady of the United States Melania Trump have been alleged in court filings of executing a fraudulent operation.

Coin Release and Price Surge

The $MELANIA tokens were released for a minimal price each on January 19th, one day preceding former President Trump took office.

Together with the $MELANIA coin, Donald Trump launched his own digital currency shortly prior to the swearing-in event.

In a matter of hours, the market value of the $MELANIA coin skyrocketed to $13.73 per token.

Sudden Collapse in Value

Nevertheless, the value plummeted with similar speed, and is now less than 15 cents – below a fraction of its maximum worth.

The claimants allege that the currency's developers executed the scheme knowing that the digital currency's value would crash.

Melania Trump herself is not mentioned in the legal action. Claimants stated they do not consider she was culpable, but charged the digital currency firms of leveraging her and other well-known personalities as a facade for their illegal activities.

Exchange Platform Involvement

In newly filed legal documents, claimants charge executives of the Meteora digital asset exchange, where Melania's coin was first exchanged, of setting up a scheme that enabled them to secretly buy substantial volumes of the cryptocurrency.

Their accomplices then rapidly offloaded these digital currencies, earning significant gains while leading to the market to collapse, according to papers submitted in New York federal court.

Broader Context

The claims concerning $MELANIA have been incorporated into court cases regarding multiple additional digital currencies, which started in spring.

The Trump family has according to reports generated more than $1 billion in pre-tax earnings from multiple digital currency-linked ventures and firms over the last year.
